COPOS

COPOS (Community Observation and Protection of Shoreline Systems) is a community-led action on the Curonian Spit, funded through the open call of the EU-funded BlueActionBANOS project. It is coordinated by the Curonian Spit National Park Administration, with the association as partner. Over 24 months, residents, school pupils, park staff and visitors co-design and pilot a citizen science assessment system for the shore and dunes, and the data collected by the community is reviewed regularly as part of the Park's management decisions.

Evaluation of the Kaunas District citizens' assembly

The association observes and evaluates how citizen engagement affects decision-making in Kaunas District. In the assembly, randomly selected residents discuss how to make sure that all groups of residents use preventive healthcare services. The project is implemented by the Kaunas District Municipality Administration together with the National NGO Coalition and partners, and funded by the Swiss-Lithuanian Cooperation Programme "Civic Engagement".

FIDELIS

FIDELIS is a European Commission funded project that addresses the challenges digital repositories face in becoming more accessible and trustworthy. The association takes part in its mentoring and peer-to-peer support programme "Fostering engagement between repositories and end users". It is represented by Dr. Monika Mačiulienė, who was selected for the first cohort of FIDELIS mentors.

SoilTribes

A Horizon Europe project under the EU Mission "A Soil Deal for Europe" (2025-2027) that strengthens soil literacy and people's connection with soil. Since March 2026 the association has been a member of the project's Community of Practice, sharing experience and co-designing soil literacy tools with people from academia, business, government, civil society and the arts across Europe.

CLIMAS (CLIMAte change citizens engagement toolbox for dealing with Societal resilience) is a Horizon Europe project that co-designed a climate adaptation toolbox with stakeholders, using values-based approaches, design thinking and citizen science. The association applies the CLIMAS Toolbox when organising climate assemblies and other deliberative processes.

The association contributes to DIGICHer, which promotes inclusive and ethical digitisation of minority communities' cultural heritage. Our role focuses on applying citizen science and co-creation methods to strengthen participation and collaboration between researchers, institutions, and communities.

The association supported a research project exploring the potential of citizen science to address social challenges in local communities. The project examined how citizens, researchers, and institutions can collaborate, identified barriers to participation, and developed recommendations for public bodies on applying citizen science in Lithuania.

The association was founded during the EU-Citizen.Science project, a Horizon 2020 initiative that created Europe's main knowledge and community hub for citizen science. The project aimed to strengthen collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, promote citizen participation in research, and advance citizen science as a recognized approach to public engagement and science communication across Europe.

Scientists from the association are part of the RIECS-Concept consortium, which works to design a European Research Infrastructure for Excellence in Citizen Science. They contribute to the project's communication and dissemination activities, helping connect research communities and promote the integration of citizen science resources, data, and practices across Europe.

"Strengthening the resilience of societies and communities through citizen science and citizenship", a Kaunas University of Technology project funded by the Research Council of Lithuania (2023-2026). It included a survey and interviews, meetings with municipal administrations, Living Labs and recommendations for Lithuanian municipalities. The project was led by Prof. Dr. Eglė Butkevičienė, a founding member of the association.

An EU project (2023-2026) that expanded the Network of European Blue Schools and used citizen science to improve ocean and water literacy in school communities. It contributed to the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030", with Kaunas University of Technology as one of the partners. The Erasmus+ project "Empowering Higher Education Through Citizen Social Science". European universities, including Kaunas University of Technology, built researchers' skills for involving citizens in research and used the futures workshop method to discuss societal challenges.
