The association has joined the Coalition for the EU Mission Ocean and Waters

The Lithuanian Citizen Science Association has joined the Coalition of cities, regions, islands and ports for the Mission Ocean and Waters, which supports the EU Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030".

The Coalition was created by CO-WATERS, a Horizon Europe project running from 2025 to 2029 with 17 partners, including six pilot areas, and coordinated by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). CO-WATERS helps waterfront cities, regions, islands, ports and their local partners restore marine and freshwater systems through networking, training, citizen and stakeholder engagement and funding advice.

Coalition members can take part in Working Groups and in the Capacity Building Programme. The first meeting of the "Policy and Governance in Action" Working Group takes place online on 22 October 2026, 11:00-12:30 CEST. It will cover the EU ocean and water policy landscape, the Water Resilience Strategy, the European Ocean Pact and how the Mission objectives can be translated to local and regional levels.

Two free trainings of the Capacity Building Programme are still open for registration:

  • Facilitation Skills for Stakeholder Engagement, January-February 2027;
  • Technical Skills: Sustainable Finance, March-May 2027.

For the association, the Coalition is a chance to share experience in citizen science and public engagement with communities restoring water ecosystems across Europe.
