Funding: two Horizon Europe calls for research where involving residents matters
Two Horizon Europe calls relevant to researchers and organisations working with communities close this autumn. Both are Research and Innovation Actions (RIA), carried out by international consortia.
Risk awareness and disaster preparedness
- Call: HORIZON-CL3-2026-01-DRS-01, "Designing new ways of risk awareness and enhanced disaster preparedness"
- Deadline: 5 November 2026
- Budget: EUR 6 million, with 2 projects of EUR 3 million each expected
- About: new tools and methods to monitor and improve risk awareness across society, integrating diverse community perspectives, and inclusive preparedness plans that involve all sectors of society
The call on the EU Funding and Tenders Portal
Inhabitants' experiences of neighbourhoods
- Call: HORIZON-NEB-2026-01-PARTICIPATION-03, "Understanding inhabitant's experiences of neighbourhoods to support their health and well-being" (New European Bauhaus)
- Deadline: 1 December 2026
- Budget: EUR 15 million, with 3 projects of EUR 5 million each expected
- About: robust evidence on how inhabitants experience their neighbourhood and how this affects their health and well-being

Both calls have been open since May 2026, so most consortia are already formed. Organisations with experience in citizen engagement may still look for a chance to join as partners.
